GhostMoney
Frequently Asked Questions
What will the audit actually show me?
A full breakdown of one bank statement in about 90 seconds: (1) where your money goes — every transaction sorted into categories and annualized, so you can see what you're really spending per year; (2) your subscription tally — an itemized list of everything you're subscribed to and what each one costs; (3) any leaks — duplicate charges and subscription price hikes. Upload a second month and it also tracks month-over-month drift and price creep. No bank login and no Plaid — you upload the statement yourself.
Can other users see my bank statements or transactions?
No. When you create your account, GhostMoney creates a unique private ID tied to your email address. Every piece of data you upload — transactions, statements, sinking funds, and coaching history — is stored under your ID only. No other user can access, view, or modify your data, even though all users share the same app URL.
How does login work? What is an access code?
Each user receives a unique 16-character access code by email when they create an account. This code is yours only — no two users share the same code. Enter it on the login page to access your account. Keep your welcome email as a backup. If you lose your code, use the "Resend code" link on the login page and a new one will be sent to your registered email address. Sessions stay active for 30 days before requiring you to re-enter your code.
Is my bank statement file stored on GhostMoney's servers?
No. When you upload a PDF or CSV, its contents are sent to Anthropic's AI (Claude) for parsing. For text files (CSV and PDFs with selectable text), personal identifiers — account/routing/card numbers, SSNs, emails, phones, and addresses — are stripped before the text is sent; for photos and scanned (image-only) PDFs, Claude reads the document image as-is (not pre-redacted), and you're asked to confirm first. Only the extracted transaction data — merchant name, amount, date, and category — is saved to your account. The original file is never stored and is discarded immediately after processing. Your raw bank statement never touches GhostMoney's database.
Who has access to my financial data?
Only you. The developer has administrative access to the database infrastructure for maintenance purposes but does not actively monitor or review individual user data. Your data is stored via Turso (AWS infrastructure), with your name, email, and phone number encrypted. It is never sold or rented, and it is shared only with the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy — for example Anthropic's Claude, which reads your statement — strictly to operate the service. You can request complete deletion of all your data at any time by emailing hello@ghostmoney.app with the subject "Data Deletion Request."
What data does GhostMoney collect?
GhostMoney collects: (1) your full name, email address, phone number, and IP address when you create your account; (2) your IP address and browser/device (user-agent) each time you log in, kept briefly for security; (3) extracted transaction data from bank statements you upload (merchant names, amounts, dates, categories); (4) sinking fund goals and contributions you create manually; (5) feedback you submit through the feedback form. GhostMoney does not collect account numbers, routing numbers, bank login credentials, or Social Security numbers.
